How to Keep From Dying: 7 Truths You Need to Know

I'm writing this to you. To you, my darling son, and to all the other beloved sons and daughters of mothers who desperately want their children saved and with us in heaven eternally.

You are loved and you are going to die someday. In that order.

Maybe today or tomorrow. Maybe in sixty-seven years. Or more. I know this is intense, but you need to hear me say it. Look into my eyes, my love. What I'm telling you today is a message I want you to hear, and along with you, any other living soul who needs to know the truth. You may have heard it before. Or maybe you've heard it said differently. Details matter, and I want you to listen carefully. Let these words soak in. It's a matter of life and death.

It's the gospel truth, and it's how to keep from dying.

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Cor. 15:3-4
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

7 Truths You Need to Know

1. All have sinned. (Rom. 3:23)

2. The wages of sin is death. (Rom. 6:23) You sin, you get paid with death. Sin cannot live forever, therefore it must die. All humans are born with a sinful nature and commit sin. This is why you must be born again (John 3:3-8) so you can receive a new nature which cannot sin (1 John 3:9) that is born of the Spirit of God.

3. You must be perfect to go to heaven. (1 Cor. 6:9-10, 1 Cor.15:50, Rev. 21:27) God is holy and you must be holy to be in His presence. This is why you need to be saved—justified, made righteous.

4. You cannot earn your salvation. (Rom. 6:23, Rom. 4:2-6, Eph. 2:8-9) This means you cannot save yourself and need a Savior.

5. Jesus Christ died for your sins. He resurrected from the dead. This is the gospel. (1 Cor. 15:1-4, 2 Cor. 5:21)

6. Believe the gospel. Trust that He did this for you. Have faith that Jesus died in your place for your sins, and then rose from the dead. (John 3:16, John 6:47, Acts 13:39, Acts 16:31, Acts 15:7-8, Rom. 1:16, Rom. 3:22-26)

7. You can know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)

My darling, if you have eternal life, how long does it last?

—Your loving mother
